FM 5500S

The FM5500S is a Transmitter for Radio communication in the FM band from 87.6 to 107.9 MHz which nominal power is 5500W. The apparatus is supplied with four inputs in order to ensure the compatibility with any Audio segnal in input. These inputs are: a Mono input with Pre-emphasis always enabled, an MPX input for Stereo multiplexed signals and two SCA inputs for additional digital signals. The transmitter may be supplied, if required, with Stereo Coder for the stereo transmission of the audio signal. The mono input contains a series of low-pass filters able to attenuate by more than 30dB all the frequencies included between 20kHz and 100kHz, compared to the level of the 15kHz. A limiting circuit, acting on all the input signals, works continuously in order to avoid the modulation to be higher than +/- 75kHz. The FM5500S uses high-performance RISC technology microcontrollers to control the whole system. In fact the RF stages are controlled locally by slave boards communicating with a master board. The latter overlooks and manages a graphic display able to supply various information, by means of synoptic, concerning the functioning status of the transmitter. The coupling system grants the redundance, reducing the output power when one of the amplifiers suffers a breakdown. It is also possible to display a calendar to date the alarms. The FM5500S may be supply telemetric signals trough RS232 and IC2BUS.
